As school is the second home of the children, they spend most of their time with teachers and the school environment. The early childhood stage is very crucial and children have complex emotions and understanding them is a daunting task. The school environment and the teachers play a vital role in mental growth and development and behaviour patterns. In the teaching profession, professionals are working with the lives of children. To justify this, we are hiring teachers who understood child psychology to understand the students, their behaviour and how they work with their lives. So that the children can learn better and live better. To develop appropriate behaviour pattern our teachers at Casagrand involves themselves in the activities like listening and observing children to understand their behaviour and make you feel good to watch your child grow, think and behave.

Child psychology

Child psychology deals with the study of the behaviour and the process of growth and development of children from birth to the beginning of adolescence. The problem faced by the children due to the lack of physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development creates stress and affects the behaviour of the children.

Many times parents think the ignorance of the children towards their studies or their unusual behaviour is nothing but the mischief of children. For Example, if you fail to make your child study, you might think your child is being stubborn but usually, children face problems while studying. Parents often misjudge their children. Hence, it becomes important to work with the teachers to make the parents understand their children and their issues. Our teachers at Casagrand International School will assist you to guide your children to make changes in their behaviour.

How do we do that?

The major aspect of child psychology is to understand whether the child is suffering from any behavioural or underlying mental or physical issues. The teachers of Casagrand International school will guide you in understanding the psychology of your child, and the reason why your child is behaving in a certain way. We ensure that the child grows overall. They will guide you to deal with your children and give them the proper care without any judgement. We will analyse how the child interacts with people, peer groups, friends or strangers. Most of the time parents are unable to locate the reason for specific behaviour patterns; this is where we are going to help you.

We observe

It is the simplest tool we use in learning child psychology. By observing the kid while he is playing, asking for a thing, or reacting to certain situations, we get to know about the child’s overall personality.

We appreciate

Appreciating children for good work done will boost their self-esteem. However, overpraising them can make them arrogant but when we appreciate them for their work, their acceptance or arrogance will help us understand what actually they are expecting from us.

We listen

By listening to what a child has to say, we get to know them better. Doing so will make them feel that we are interested in their life. This will help to strengthen the bond between us and they will take a step forward in listening to what we say.

What do we do?

We follow a few psychological elements when dealing with children to promote positive and effective psychological development:

Individual differences

child psychology

Children are different from each other. They look, perceive, understand and respond to things differently. These differences come from their home environment and it influences the way they behave with other children. The teachers of Casagrand understand the individual differences and their unique talents and abilities.

Learning style

Writing on the board or the traditional lecture method may not be effective for all children. Some children are visual learners while others are kinaesthetic. Our teachers are capable to understand the need of the children and adopt appropriate learning techniques to make learning easy for children.

Below are the different teaching styles followed by our teachers

  • Auditory: using rhymes and lectures
  • Visual: using images and videos
  • Verbal: reading and memorizing out loud
  • Kinaesthetic: writing and drawing
  • Intrapersonal: learning on their own
  • Interpersonal: learning with others or in a group

Rewards and punishments

Our children are handling this technique to modify their behaviour of the children. Giving rewards to children helps them to continue that behaviour, and through that other children are encouraged to behave in a similar way. The constructive nature of punishment enables them to reflect on their behaviour.

Giving explanation

Our teachers explain the logic behind the rules when making rules around the class. Students are in a better position to understand the importance of the rule and follow it when an explanation is given.

Identifying and addressing psychological issues

As children spend most of their time at school, teachers can identify their psychological issues with the help of a few identifiers like sudden decrease in academic performance, sitting or spending most of the time alone, being too quiet, if they were talkative earlier, sudden anger outburst or aggressive behaviour, not being able to make friends. The teacher can play an important role in identifying and addressing these problems and can find a solution with the help of the parents to help the children to overcome the issues.

The developmental areas our school concentrates on

If you want your children to excel in all walks of life, it is important to concentrate on the physical, social, emotional and intellectual areas of the children.

Physical development

This area of development provides children with the ability they need to explore and interact with the world around them. Thus, we are providing new opportunities to practice new skills and encourage them to take up sports that offer many opportunities for improving coordination, strengthening muscles, body speed and agility. By choosing, sports in their lives, your children can not only become physically stronger but mentally tough as well.

Social and emotional development

Under social-emotional development, children acquire skills that allow them to interact with other people and express and control their emotions. We are giving the children a comfortable and supportive atmosphere that helps boost their self-confidence and encourages them to try new things, and help them do what they are capable of to promote self-awareness. We are making opportunities for the children to mingle with other children and interact. Knowing how to engage positively with others and understanding their feelings will have lifelong benefits.

Intellectual development

Intellectual development in children is usually characterized by how various mental processes like the span of attention, understanding information, reasoning, learning, remembering, problem-solving and thinking develop from birth until adulthood.

We are encouraging the children to play board games, brain games and puzzles and encourage them to come up with original ideas while waiting and listening to them patiently and following a few strategies to help the children to recall information.

As a well-wisher, we are dealing with children and their complex thoughts every day to get the best out of them with the help of child psychology. By observing your children to understand their behavioural patterns and their learning patterns, we ensure your child’s better education.
